Piala Pala Bowling Tournament

After a whirlwind of sporting activities in 2019, the annual Law Society Piala Pala Bowling Tournament was held on 14 December 2019 to close off the year.

Eight teams of bowlers from various law firms gathered at the bowling alley at Chinese Swimming Club on the Saturday morning to vie for the coveted Piala Pala Cup. The Piala Pala Cup is a challenge trophy for the competition that was introduced in 2001 when the tournament first adopted the 9-pin tap game format. The names of the winning team of the tournament each year are engraved on the Cup. To win is therefore to literally make a mark on history.

After three hours of intense competition, Team Drew & Napier LLC emerged victorious, leaving its opponents trailing by more than 400 pins behind. Team RAKE edged out the State Courts Team 1 to clinch second place and State Courts Team 1 settled for third place.

For the first time in Piala Pala history, two bowlers also achieved perfect games of 300 (i.e. 13 strikes in a row). Both bowlers were from Drew & Napier LLC. Needless to say, the atmosphere at the alley was tense and mounting and the participants were beside themselves when both bowlers achieved their perfect games. It was a celebration shared by all.

The overall results of the tournament are as follows:
