Doing Good: Through the Eyes of a Pro Bono Lawyer

What I often realise about my clients is that their legal problem doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Some of them steal because they are poor and they just cannot find good employment. Some of them are repeated drug offenders because they never managed to get help for their addictions, or they just never managed to solve that problem that keeps leading them to relapse.

When a crime is committed, we tend to focus on the act itself and forget that there are other related problems that can push one to commit these crimes in the first place. Watch Cai Chengying, former CLAS Fellow and Senior Assistant Director of Law Society Pro Bono Services, as she shares with Our Grandfather Story the challenging situations her clients face through her journey as a pro bono lawyer in an animation featured on their O+ series.
