Tech Start for Law Spotlight

COREMATTER, NETDOCUMENTS & ASIA LAW NETWORK

In this feature for Tech Start for Law, we take a look at how Business Network Solutions (“BNS”) and Asia Law Network have benefitted our members.

“The Tech Start for Law (“TSL”) Program was first mooted and launched by The Law Society of Singapore, Ministry of Law and SPRING Singapore in March 2017. As an initiative that allows my peers and me to take steps into affordable technology that remain core to managing a modern law practice, I immediately wanted to be on board.

The firm, Chia Yong Yong Law Corporation had just been incorporated and we chose the Asia Law Network (“ALN”) as the best platform to connect with our existing and prospective clients and Business Network Solutions (“BNS”) for their solutions in Practice Management & Accounting and Document & Email Management. Without the TSL Program, the firm would have spent valuable time and resources to not only qualify available solutions but evaluate those that could actually meet our needs which would ultimately, delay our adoption of useful technology”

Change can be a challenge and we are blessed to have solution consultants from both companies guiding us at every stage. They take our feedback seriously to improve their solutions. IT solutions work for lawyers and their support teams – not the other way around! We have also learnt to appreciate the partnership and synergy between the firm, IT solution provider, bookkeepers and tax agents.

With this support, we can now take on more work, turn them around faster and with peace in our mind that information has been captured and maintained securely.”

Chia Yong Yong, Director, Chia Yong Yong Law Corporation

“Customer-centricity is where we start. We wanted Covenant Chambers LLC to provide the best services to our customers, be it in our knowledge and capability, our responses, our innovation and friendliness.

Having a functional and practical IT system helps us achieve this goal. Information is available at our finger tips literally, whether we are in or out of office.

Asia Law Network has increased the exposure of our lawyers and our law firm to people and businesses who need legal services. We’ve had requests for legal consultations and legal work come in from the platform since listing, participating in their marketing events and writing legal content that the company publishes.

Our adoption of CoreMatter, NetDocuments and Asia Law Network have allowed us to streamline our operations which is normally difficult to achieve in a paper centric world. All these solutions are cloud based and without on-site hardware servers, the solutions are affordable. Importantly we can work flexibly anywhere, anytime”

The Tech Start for Law Program initiative by The Law Society of Singapore, Ministry of Law and SPRING Singapore have certainly achieved its aim in selecting solutions that work and accelerate the adoption of technology by the smaller legal firms. We hope this type of industry collaboration will continue. It helps to bring out the best in the practice of law in Singapore.”

Lee Ee Yang, Managing Director, Covenant Chambers LLC

About Asia Law Network

Asia Law Network was started in 2014 and now has approximately 1,500 plus of Singapore’s practising lawyers on its platform. The legal technology company’s mission is to be the go-to place for all things legal and it strives to do so by helping make lawyers more efficient with technology.

The platform is home to lawyers from both small and medium boutique practices like Taylor Vinters Via, Covenant Chambers LLC and ArrowGates LLC to larger law firms like Straits Law and Shook Lin & Bok.

The company launched Quick Consult to let anyone or any business get in touch with a practising lawyer on the phone for a 15-minute call to have their legal questions answered within one to two days for a transparent fee through our technology.

“When I was starting my boutique law practice, I wanted to look for a way to better and more efficiently deliver legal services to my clients and find new clients without high setup costs and expensive monthly subscription. After being on the platform for a few quarters now, I find myself pleased with how ALN has helped my practice grow. Their content team helped establish myself by writing and publishing articles in Fintech which is now widely read in the industry and sent a lot of relevant interest my way. Their Quick Consult has made it easy for these clients to get in touch with me, and I don’t have to worry about collecting since it is prepaid. Being on the network has helped us in an immense way and accelerated what I could have achieved organically on our own. I’m excited at new innovations that they are working on to help law practices like ours.”

WanHsi Yeong, ArrowGates LLC

“Asia Law Network sets the gold standard in setting up a system for lawyers to address queries from new clients. As a lawyer, I very much appreciate having sight of the most essential background facts laid out before speaking to the client. The two-stage conflict check that is built into the system is also absolutely necessary and helpful in streamlining the process of ensuring that one is not in a conflict situation before accepting the case. All in all, the quick consult process is efficient, effective and user-friendly. The customer service representatives are also immensely helpful and responsive in the rare event there is an issue with the call system.”

Lau Kah Hee, Partner, Derrick Wong & Lim BC LLP

“I started my own firm at the end of July this year. As I moved from an in-house role back to private practice, I did not have an existing client base and had to start from scratch. Asia Law Network was instrumental for me to market myself. It provided a platform to provide legal consultation for a fixed fee, without having to worry about collection of fees. The people at Asia Law Network have also been excellent in being responsive, offering professional portraits and collaborating to write legal articles for potential clients. The subsidy from the Law Society for Tech Start made the decision to subscribe to Asia Law Network easy.”
