Annual Piala Pala Bowling Tournament 2023

The past two years were peculiar years. Covid-19 robbed all sportsmen and sportswomen of the opportunity to gather and joust for honour and glory in their respective sports.

That is why the hosting of Piala Pala 2023 was both monumental and significant. It was monumental because it marked a return to normalcy with more things to come for the sport. It was also significant because a new Piala Pala Cup had to be made since the previous one was too old – a testament to the tournament’s long legacy. With this new Cup marks a new era for Piala Pala.

Teams of bowlers dusted their equipment and arrived at the alley bright and early on a Saturday morning to compete for the Cup. The bowlers were brimming with excitement as the start of the games brought back the familiar feelings of camaraderie and competition.

From the get go, the competition was fierce. The top teams, including defending champions Drew & Napier Team 1, were neck to neck in a fierce bid to clinch the champion title.

In the end, the team PositivelyNegative comprising Bertinus Teo, Nicole Lau and Ian Wong, tore away from the herd and emerged as winners of the Piala Pala Cup.

Competition-aside, the event also gave bowlers the opportunity to rekindle old friendships and make new ones as newer members of the community mingled with the veterans.

It was, all in all, a splendid event to start the new year.

Many thanks to the Law Society for its support and the Secretariat team for their invaluable assistance.

Congratulations to all the winners!
